All New Entrants working aboard any UK commercial fishing vessel of any size are required to have completed an approved Health and Safety Course for Fishermen.

This course will provide new entrants to the industry with the knowledge and skills they require to work safely on fishing vessels.

Entry Requirements

• You must complete this course within 12 weeks of your Sea Survival course
• No previous Health & Safety experience is required

Course Content

• Knowing your vessel
• Understanding roles and responsibilities
• Maintaining operations
• Working safely on a fishing vessel
• Dealing with emergencies

Examination Type

• There is a short, multiple-choice exam at the end of the course.
• Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a Seafish a Health & Safety for New Entrants certificate.
