Seafish Basic First Aid
This one-day First Aid course includes a blended approach of theory development and practical experience. The course is SeaFish approved and is mandatory for any person working as crew on a commercial fishing vessel and gives basic knowledge of immediate response needed when faced with medical emergencies or accidents while at sea.
During this course you will learn the skills required to deal with:
- Applying immediate first aid in the event of an accident/injury on board ship
- Actions on discovering a casualty
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Recovery position
- Fractures
- Spinal injuries
- Examination of a casualty
- Medical conditions including heart attack, choking & asthma
- Treatment of bleeding, burns & shock
- Transporting a casualty on board ship

Our course is fully approved by Seafish
Entry Requirements
- You must complete this course within 12 weeks of your Sea Survival course
- No previous First Aid experience is required

Examination Type
There is a short, multiple-choice exam at the end of the course.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a Seafish Basic First Aid certificate.
