Seafish Sea Survival
This one-day course in Sea Survival forms part of the mandatory basic safety training for all seafarers. All commercial fishermen working aboard a vessel of any size are required to have attended Basic Sea Survival.

Entry Requirements
- None – this course should be taken before first going to sea
- Applicants will be asked to complete a Medical Questionnaire as the course does require some time and activity in the swimming pool
Course Content
To improve the survival opportunities following accidental immersion in water or vessel abandonment according to the principles established in STCW convention.
By the end of the training participants will:
- Understand the principles of sea survival
- Understand the correct application and usage of sea survival equipment
- Be able to use sea survival equipment and apply practical survival skills.
Examination Type
There is a short, multiple-choice exam at the end of the course. All trainees need to complete the exercises in the pool to gain the certificate. If you have any restricted abilities, please call us to discuss.
Please bring a t-shirt and towel for pool session.
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a Seafish Basic Sea Survival certificate.
