Seafish Bridge Watchkeeping (5-day course)
This course is for skippers of vessels less than 16.5m. The course forms part of the Seafish Under 16.5m Skippers Certificate.
The Seafish 5-day Navigation and Watchkeeping course is intended for anyone taking a navigational watch and skippers of vessels less than 16.5m operating beyond 20 nautical miles from a safe haven.

Entry Requirements
Please ensure that you meet the Pre-Course requirements of 18 months experience in the industry. Candidates should familiarise themselves with the use of navigational aids and particularly paper charts before attending the course.

- “Rules of the Road” – International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea
- Principles of safe navigation
- Uses and limitations of electronic navigational aids
- IALA buoyage system
- Lights, shapes and sounds in navigation
- Vessel emergency procedures
Examination Type
On-going practical assessment
On day 5 there is a test which is both multiple choice and short answer questions and a Chartwork Assessment
