Seafish Basic Fire Fighting
This one-day course forms part of the mandatory basic safety training for commercial fishermen and meets the requirements for most Boatmasters Licence and some passenger vessel operations.
Course Certification and Compliance
The Seafish Industry Authority on behalf of the MCA will issue a course certificate to those who complete the course successfully.
Entry Requirements
- You must complete this course within 12 weeks of your Sea Survival course
- No previous Fire Fighting experience is required
Course Content
To provide fishermen with the knowledge and skills required to be able to fight fires at sea.
By the end of the training participants will:
- Understand fire prevention.
- Understand fire and the dangers it presents at sea
- Understand the basic principles and methods of fighting fires at sea
- Be able to use basic firefighting equipment to safely extinguish fires
Examination Type
Candidates must complete a short, multiple-choice exam and a practical session
